"Malmö" as it's pronounced in swedish, is famous for its continental character and cosmopolitan charm. The Swedish city of Malmo is greatly influenced by her neighbor, Denmark's capital of Copenhagen, which situated just across the water and is connected by the magnificent Oresund Bridge, Europe's longest bridge which has both road and rail. Malmo's skyline is particularly interesting and quiet bizarre, since the city is filled with some unusual buildings, like the impossible-to-miss Turning Torso tower, which curls its way high into the sky.
The heart of Malmo is based around the Old Town quarter, which is referred to as the Gamla Staden and encircled by a picturesque canal. Within the Gamla Stan you can find three noteworthy squares: the Big Square (also known as Stortorget), the Little Square (which the charning name Lilla Torg) and Gustav Adolfs Square. These plazas are only a walking distance from each other so the best way to explore them is by foot. Touring the area you can enjoy the interesting shops and lovely dinning places which are built around and offer shopping and fine local dishes.
